Purchased new by M W Nicoll of Laurencekirk in 2002. Unusual in design as it has double glazed side windows and an early build of full air brakes.

 

Initially purchased for use on service 47 between Ferryden and Hillside via Montrose Town Centre and Borrowfield. YL02 has seen many routes over time such as the 48 and 52 Montrose Town services, 30 service from Montrose to Brechin, Stracathro and Edzell, 103 service from Laurencekirk to Aberdeen via Netherly and Cookney, 24 and 26 service from Brechin to Stonehaven and also the 116 service, often refered to as ‘The Coast run’ between Montrose and Stonehaven via Johnshaven, Gourdon and Inverbervie.

 

This was one of the last remaining new to the company vehicles when the difficult decision was take to close the company down. Mr John Petrie, owner of M W Nicoll, kindly donated the vehicle to the Angus Transport Group, along with some of the company history. This will allow the memory of this once great company can live on in the guise of its first ever low floor service bus.
